HALAS HAWKS U12 3-2 Leamington Lions U12DH
PPOM: Florence
POM: Molly
Goals: Bella, Eva
We started fantastically well in this game with everyone flying around the pitch with purpose and there was some lovely passing and moving from the start.
It paid off really early on with a lovely finish by Bella reward for some good work down the wing for 1-0 after 2 minutes.
Halas couldn't get to grips with us and Eva did what she does really well popping up in the box to score the second only a few minutes later.
Talking to the girls not on the pitch there was a feeling we would kick on and win easily.
Halas had other ideas and started coming back at us. They came close forcing saves from Florence and shooting narrowly wide.
Halas pressure paid off when a good ball from a corner went into a crowd and the Halas player smashed it home.
At half time the talk with the girls was all positive, they had been playing really well and we wanted more of the same.
The second half was however not a reflection of the first and how well the girls can play. The game got more physical and our intensity dropped off.
We did come close again with Eva hitting post/bar but Halas keep coming and seemed to be first to the ball. They scored again from a crowded penalty area to make it 2-2.
Then came the penalty! No complaints about it. The Halas player stepped up and went bottom left but Florence had other ideas and made an excellent save which the team celebrated which was fantastic to see.
I thought that was a sign that we would go on and nick the game but unfortunately not to be and again Halas' work rate and tenacity paid off when they again scored from a crowded box. Final score 3-2.
I'll mention Molly as she had a storming game playing right back and was all up and down that side the whole game.
The girls were disappointed but they tried their hardest and lots of positives from the first half for us we can take away.
